Love fully,
Our beauty does not come from dominating and conquering and winning. It comes from blessing and appreciating and loving. Our glory does not come from being right or being in charge. Our glory comes from being who we really are. This life we lead may be hard, may be downright agonizing at times, but it's not about finding fault. It's about finding a way of life that honors your living spirit." John Robbins, The Food Revolution The Food Revolution is more than just a book detailing the virtues of vegetarianism and how to eat more mindfully and compassionately. It is a recipe for living a more mindful, compassionate and healthy life. Carnivore, omnivore, herbivore, vegetarian, pescatarian, junk food junkie -- whatever category you fall into, The Food Revolution has something to offer. At the very least you may learn something about what you eat, how it got to your plate and what happens once it’s inside you. I am not a vegetarian (though I’m convinced that if I had a personal chef I would be), but this book still has had a dramatic affect on my eating habits and food choices. John Robbins makes his points very clear, with a vast amount of scientific studies, practical examples and quotes to reinforce them. Is he extreme in his views? Certainly. Over the top at times? Absolutely. But what one may deem fanaticism another will find to be passion and it is clear that John Robbins is a very passionate soul, indeed. Would you expect anything less from someone who chose his beliefs over inheriting the Baskin-Robbins ice cream empire? Please read this book with an open mind. There will always be tons of folks on either side of the food fence. The point is, you don’t have to buy everything he’s selling, but at the very least take a look at what he has to offer. So often we get caught up in this all or nothing scenario—but even small changes in our diet, attitude and lifestyle can have a huge impact on our lives, the lives of others and the world at large. What’s that they say about a butterfly flapping its wings in on the other side of the earth… Namaste, Drew
